Mathematical Thinking in Computer Science
This index lists reviews of various print materials relevant to mathematical
thinking in computer science education. These reviews are a project of the Working
Group on Integrating Mathematical Reasoning into Computer Science Curricula;
the project is headed by Doug Baldwin.
The goal of these reviews is to help people find materials that they can use
to teach mathematical reasoning within computer science,to support the importance
of such reasoning, etc. Note that these reviews concentrate on printed materials;
links to on-line materials can be
found on the Working Group's Web page.
Submissions
Anyone interested in mathematical thinking in computer science education is
welcome to submit material to this collection. I am particularly interested
in two kinds of material:
- Full reviews, of any printed work that you feel is important to mathematical
thinking in computer science. Reviews should be fairly short (roughly equivalent
to a page or less of printed text). A review should include the title and
author of the work being reviewed, information on where it was published,
your name, your thoughts on the work, and suggestions on the keywords it should
be classified under (see below). See the existing reviews for examples. Authors,
please don't review your own work -- but please do comment on others' reviews
of it, as described next.
- Comments on reviews. I would like to attach comments on reviews to their
ends. These can be comments from others familiar with a work who differ with
the review (or want to endorse it), reactions from a work's author to a review,
etc. Comments should be on the order of one or two paragraphs, and need to
include some identification of review they comment on, the commenter's name,
and the comments.
E-mail plain text submissions to Doug
Baldwin (baldwin@geneseo.edu). There are no format or content requirements
other than those above.
